Caregiver Burden is Real Pass the Credit for Caring Act

Working Caregivers Deserve Support at Work

Family caregivers are the invisible backbone of America, providing essential care while balancing full-time jobs, financial responsibilities, and personal well-being. Across the country, 30 million family caregivers are working double duty, managing careers while also caring for aging parents, spouses, children, or loved ones with disabilities. For many, the financial strain of caregiving is overwhelming.

In fact, many caregivers operate on little sleep, pushing their own health to the side because there simply isn’t enough time in the day. Their mental and emotional well-being takes a backseat as they prioritize the needs of others over themselves. The weight of responsibility can feel crushing, yet so many continue to give without hesitation, without complaint, and often without the support they need.

Moreover, caregivers remain largely unrecognized and under appreciated. Their sacrifices go unnoticed, and the resources available to help them navigate these challenges are often limited or difficult to access. Policies and programs that offer respite care, financial assistance, and workplace protections are essential, yet too many caregivers are left to fend for themselves, navigating a system that doesn’t provide enough support. They need real solutions—financial relief, workplace flexibility, access to affordable respite care, and recognition for the unpaid labor they provide. They need policies that acknowledge the economic impact of caregiving and ensure that those who dedicate their lives to caring for others don’t have to sacrifice their own security in the process.

Caregiving is not just a personal responsibility; it’s a societal issue that affects millions. It’s time to shine a light on the struggles caregivers face and advocate for change.  Let’s recognize, respect, and support the caregivers who hold our families and communities together.
