Caregiver Burden is Real Pass the Credit for Caring Act

A Message From Stuart Smalley

I am a huge fan of Saturday Night Live skits. Stuart Smalley’s Valentine’s Day ‘show’ is perfect for caregivers today. Al Franken’s character conveys the importance of self-love using humor. Sarcasm aside, my wish for each caregiver to embrace how special and vital they are to our world. Caregivers’ unselfish service is the ultimate act of love. Love yourself on this special day and every day.

Employers Can Support Caregivers Too

Today’s caregivers struggle to balance home, work, caregiving, and personal health demands. The Credit For Caring Resource Directory and Caregiver Tools are free for all to use. Let us know what else we can do to help. Employee benefit programs to help caregivers include:

*Provide Employee Assistance Programs for elder law and financial planning.

*Encourage caregivers to participate in telehealth doctor’s visits and care management conferences

*Optimize flex-time to maximize an employee’s ability to succeed.

*Create a directory of on-demand options and automated bill paying to ease the burden of daily tasks.

*Provide Flexible Spending and Health Savings accounts that can be used to defray caregiving expenses.
